If the preceding IAGT Goals reflect your heart of concern for your GT Student, then the best way to get involved with the education, policies, and welfare that affect our gifted and talented student community in Irving Independent School District is by joining IAGT - Irving Association for Gifted and Talented. As reflected in our Goals, we are an advocacy group that unites to address the unique needs of our gifted and talented students. We encourage and endorse policies that support the social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the gifted child. We are going into our sixth year. There has been great progress in the GT program in Irving which has been around a least twenty years. Through a spirit of cooperation we become part of solutions instituted by IISD. If you see a need, you can help meet the need supported by other experienced IAGT members. We try to have three major programs a year. In the past, we have had at least one child oriented activity or participation program. There has been a Scholarship Information meeting mid school year given by Deborah George, the Director of the GT program in IISD to learn some available sources of scholarships for our students, especially for summer programs.. We have topped the year off with a GT Showcase of Talent in a “fair like” atmosphere.. All the primary and secondary schools are invited to bring their GT student’s work and class projects to share with the rest of the school district and GT families. It is both enriching and encouraging to see the scale of talent among our students and educators that partner in such an extraordinary program. Follow the links to the English and Spanish Membership Forms to join us. You can also fill out a form at one of our meetings listed on our Keeper Calendar. See the Activities page on this site. Please note our Contact Us information if you wish to talk to someone personally concerning our program or membership. We have elections at the end of each school year to elect our Board.. There are however, many volunteer positions available, as well. There is always something to do according to your situation and ability to participate.. Please feel free to get involved with others that have a heart for the GT program and the gift that it is to our children. Our participation definitely impacts our high caliber standing with the State and makes a big difference in our program locally which involves our children.
